The homicide rate in any given jurisdiction is widely used as a measure of the prevalence of violent crime (map 1). The UN recommended figure for police per 100,000 people is 222 (map 2). Drug crimes do not distinguish the user from the supplier (map 3). The investigation of a crime is the work of the Investigating Officer (map 4). The figures below (as with most data in Key Measures) are measured against the national mean.
